SHS Travel Club visited Maquoketa Caves yesterday and enjoyed an amazing 2 mile hike through this beautiful trail system. These travelers were such intrepid spelunkers, climbing into tight spaces and encouraging one another to explore! These Warriors were truly one with nature. 🦇 🥾 🌲
Today, Mrs. Record’s AP environmental science students completed an environmental assessment of Starved Rock State Park. They learned the importance of leave no trace and the impact humans have on natural places.

Excited to announce our brand new NAMI on campus club! Last week, we kicked off Suicide Awareness Week by handing out wristbands and resources to promote mental health awareness and support. Did you know that suicide is the 3rd leading cause of death among ages 15-24? Every wristband is a reminder that no one is alone. With the support of NAMI Sauk Area, we’re here to spread awareness, start conversations, and provide hope. #WarriorsLead #MentalHealthMatters #NAMIonCampus
In honor of Mexican Independence Day, SHS students partook in celebrations both in and out of the classroom.
Students decorated sombreros and learned about this historical event in Karina Valdez's Spanish class. 💛💙
During the Sterling's 71st Annual Fiesta Day Parade & Celebration 🇲🇽 🎉, SHS alumni Josue Arreola (2024) and Abrianna Ibarra (2024) were honored. Josue was named Fiesta King and received a $1000 scholarship. Abrianna was named Fiesta Princess and received a $500 scholarship.
Also in the parade was the SHS and CMS Band, led by Erik & Nicole Oberg and Kevin O'Keefe. 🎺🎶🥁

Couple notes regarding the sale:
1. We will be selling the CLASS T-SHIRTS at the home football games on Friday, Sept 13 for $20 each. They are going to sell fast! But no worries, if they do sell out at the game, you can still purchase them in our online store. However, we are sad to say the price goes up to $25 to get them on the store! So do not miss out! Grab them from the prom committee at both gates starting at 4:30 on Friday afternoon. Fun option: the online store also has a sweatshirt version of these designs to offer as well.
2. The homecoming football game on Friday, October 4 will be a PINK OUT! So we have some fun PINK t-shirts and sweatshirt options for you on the online store as well.
3. We now have 12 different decals to offer you! These will be great on water bottles or if you want to dress up your stadium bag with a little more Warrior spirit! Be sure to check those out in the accessory section of the store. Grab one of each to share with friends!
4. Parents and grandparents, you can now show your pride for your favorite Warrior as well! How perfect to wear for Senior Night--or for any event to cheer your favorite teen on! Check it out!
