Excited to announce our brand new NAMI on campus club! Last week, we kicked off Suicide Awareness Week by handing out wristbands and resources to promote mental health awareness and support. Did you know that suicide is the 3rd leading cause of death among ages 15-24? Every wristband is a reminder that no one is alone. In honor of Mexican Independence Day, SHS students partook in celebrations both in and out of the classroom. Students decorated sombreros and learned about this historical event in Karina Valdez's Spanish class. 💛💙 During the Sterling's 71st Annual Fiesta Day Parade & Celebration 🇲🇽 🎉, SHS alumni Josue Arreola (2024) and Abrianna Ibarra (2024) were honored. Josue was named Fiesta King and received a $1000 scholarship. Abrianna was named Fiesta Princess and received a $500 scholarship. SPS Community, This morning, there have been social media rumors about a possible violent event that occurred at one of Sterling Public Schools’ buildings. The SPS Administration has been in touch with Sterling Police Department and we can both attest that these rumors are not true. These rumors were most likely started due to an event that occurred early this morning involving Sterling Police Department and a stolen vehicle on SPS’ property. What is important to note is that this incident causes no threat to any SPS Student and/or Staff, and as a result, our school day will continue to progress as normal.

SHS Student Council is hosting the first blood drive of the school year on Wednesday, September 11 in the Musgrove field house from 8:00 am - 2:00 pm! 16 or older are eligible to donate (just need a permission slip if 16). Donors will receive a t-shirt!
