Day 3 was a meager 19,000 step day with a stop along Author’s Ridge to pay our respects to Nathaniel Hawthorne, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry David Thoreau and Louisa May Alcott. We then visited the Lexington Battle Green and the Old North Bridge in Concord where the shot heard round the world was fired. For lunch, we got to explore Harvard Square and dream big dreams of attending college. In the afternoon we took a walking tour that helped us connect the dots of the events leading up to the Revolutionary War with a very fun interactive experience as members of the Boston Tea Party (some students and teachers may have committed treason)! Our evening was spent on a ghost tour of Boston where Mr. Francis tried valiantly to see the ghost of Charles Dickens in the mirror Dickens used to read aloud The Christmas Carol as he wrote it. We cannot get over the fun and bonding from today. I am having so much fun with these kids and am sad we have to say goodbye to our new friends from Mississippi tomorrow. Excited for our final two days ✈️🧳❤️ Mrs. Johnson

Day 2 and we tackled A LOT again today. While we were only awake for 16 hours, we still walked over 20,000 steps (nearly 9 miles) with our new friends from #kosciusko Mississippi, and visited the Atlantic Ocean at #SingingBeach, visited the #SalemWithMuseum, walked around Salem and saw some sites from the #HocusPocus movie, toured the #HouseOfSevenGables and Nathaniel Hawthorne’s birthplace, walked the esplanade in Boston, through the Boston Gardens and Commons, followed by dinner and a rousing game of #candlepin bowling…another successful day with these amazing kids ❤️

Day 1 of the SHS Travel Club Boston trip was a success! We saw Castle Island, toured the Old North Church, walked by Paul Revere’s house, toured the USS Constitution (old Ironsides), visited Bunker Hill, had dinner at Quincy Market, followed by cannoli in the North End. We walked over 21,000 steps to match being awake for over 21 hours, but all students (and teachers) had a wonderful day!
