Problem Solving Process

Sterling Public Schools will be utilizing a problem-solving team to help meet children’s needs. Team members from a variety of disciplines and experience come together to help students as they respond to instruction they are receiving. Topics addressed by the team may be academic, social, or behavioral.

The RTI (Response to Intervention) Model is a process that is used to decide how teachers and parents can best work together to help students who need support. The RTI process looks at teaching methods, the materials being taught, the classroom setting, and the behavioral and learning needs of the student. The goal of the RTI process is to identify interventions that will help the student, teacher and parent address the specific needs of the student. An intervention is a strategy, or course of action, designed to make a positive difference in the area the child needs.
