"What do we want students to know and be able to do?"

Curriculum identifies what students need to know and be able to do at each grade level. Curriculum should expand rather than limit students' choices and opportunities. The Department of Curriculum and Instruction will strive to:

• Establish a curriculum that clearly reflects goals that are easily understood by all stakeholders and promote a focus on high standards of academic achievement.
• Define the core curriculum at each grade level and content-area that is aligned to state and Common Core Standards.
• Provide specialized programs and/or services for students with special needs, abilities, and/or interests.
• Support a systematic effort to collect information on student achievement and make adjustments to the curriculum based on the results.
• Ensure a continuous effort of curricular improvement based on student achievement data.
