Types of Assessments
Universal Screener: an assessment given 3 - 4 times per year. The purpose of this assessment is to quickly assess which students are at grade-level and which students may be in need of an intervention. This assessment is also used to evaluate Tier 1 curriculum and instruction. Diagnostic Assessment: a test given to analyze students' strengths and identify specific skill deficiencies for remediation. Progress Monitor: assessment given to student receiving intervention to help determine if the intervention is working. Typically, students in Tier 2 interventions are progress monitored every two weeks; students in Tier 3 are monitored weekly. (This may vary depending on grade level and assessment used). Program Evaluation: outside assessment used to determine how well students are doing in relationship to standards and other students. This type of assessment can help to identify areas of concern in curriculum and/or instructional practices that may impact student achievement. |
